In FLORAL VEIL, Matthew Dutton creates a new work out of contemporary tensions between beauty and the macabre, fascination and disgust, art and technology. Utilizing an experimental, analog-inspired style of floral print embossment on the painting’s surface, he represents an AI-created figure in a mysterious, fantastically-colored haze, drawing attention to the many simultaneous layers of our material and digital lives.
FLORAL VEIL is a work of ink, plaster, and watercolor, layered together and placed in a handcrafted wooden frame.
