"Sarah", figure painting and mylar collage of nude female lounging on bed

2016

About the Item

Large scale acrylic painting with mylar collage elements of female nude lounging on her bed while reading. She is soft and elegant yet, bold, confident, and bright. This painting is sure to be the talking point of any space. Are you bold enough?! This is 1 of 4 large scale paintings I created during my MFA at SVA. Sarah is a dear friend of mine and I am so thrilled she was comfortable to sit for me. This painting has a study line drawing, "Sarah no.1", which is also available for purchase. "Sarah" was recently included in the group show "TRUE STORIES" at Untitled Space in Tribeca, NYC. April 9 - May 28, 2022 It is strongly influenced by the brilliance that is Egon Schiele, my line drawings exude my confidence in drawing the figure. I have always found line drawing to be such a beautiful yet powerful method for portraying the complex beauty that is the human form. I am the artist, Mel Reese. I received my B.S. from Skidmore College in 2013 and an MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC in May 2017.
