Acrylic on canvas painting of fishermen on the docks by Provincetown artist, William Maynard. Circa 1985. Signed lower right. The painting is housed in a narrow white artist frame 18.5 by 32.5 inches. William Maynard (1921-2016) A graduate of the school of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, he also studied for two years at Massachusetts College of Art. Mr. Maynard was on the faculty at New England School of Art and Design for thirty-two years and at one time was chairman of the Fine Arts Department. He was also a faculty member at the school of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. His exhibitions have included: the BMFA, the Shore Studio, Vose Galleries, the De Cordova Museum, the Busche Reisinger Museum, Harvard University, the Grand Central Gallery, New York City, Hawthorne Gallery, New York City, the Copley Society, Guild of Boston Artists and many more. He is in permanent collections at: BMFA, the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts, Fairleigh-Dickenson University, the Teichman Collection, New York, the Fleischmann Collection, Detroit, the Seligman Collections, New York, Tufts University, the Fitchburg Museum of Fine Art, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Macon GA, to name but a few. He was a member of New England Watercolor Society, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum and New England School of Art and Design. He died in 2016.
