Hijack
Hijack, born in 1992, started as an underground street artist, silently stenciling the Los Angeles streets at night.
In April 2013, Hijack took the United Kingdom art scene by storm with his gallery debut at the prestigious Mead Carney Fine Art gallery on Dover street in London. The show was so highly anticipated that it sold out and extended, due to incredulous high demand. Works including Never too Young to Dream Big and Perfection is False struck a chord with the crowd. When Hijack took his vision to the streets, spraying a stencil of Never too Young to Dream Big in London, it quickly caught the attention of U.K. news outlets and websites. The Mead Carney exhibition garnered buzz and Hijack’s landmark debut was featured in Art of England’s June 2013 issue, Huffington Post UK, The Art Newspaper and The Telegraph, to name just a few.
Hijack was invited, along with Mr. Brainwash, to do an exhibit at the Dieresis Cultural Center in Guadalajara, Mexico. The exhibit was extended for months, attracting large crowds, drawing a mass of media attention and delighting art collectors and audiences internationally. In June of 2014, Hijack mounted a solo show at Galerie Moretti & Moretti, one of Paris’s best contemporary galleries, entitled “Life Through Street Art.” In November of 2014, an exhibition at Japan’s Gallery 21 created an avalanche of press for Hijack, including a feature in Vogue Japan. In addition to his gallery shows and solo street-art installations, Hijack also collaborates with other internationally renowned street artists, including New York’s Cope and Japan’s Dragon 76.
In early 2015, Hijack continued to take his art all over the globe with a show at the Artvera’s Gallery in Gstaad, Switzerland at the Gstaad Palace Hotel, done in partnership with Swiss watchmaker Hublot. While his art was being exhibited in Switzerland, Hijack’s works were also on display at the Wall Street Gallery in Beverly Hills for the group show, “Revolution.” The Wall Street Gallery show contained several of Hijack’s captivating works, including You can mimic the result but not the creativity.
In 2016, Hijack created a limited edition series of skateboards in collaboration with other artists such as Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst and John Baldessari. In 2017, Hijack brought sensational energy to both Art Miami and Art Palm Beach. For Hijack, art is a lifestyle and a passion, as his signature style is steeped in positivity and presents a bright future for the next generation of contemporary art.
Hijack is based currently in Los Angeles, California, where he continues to work as a street artist and contemporary phenomenon. In a manner that mirrors the meteoric rise of contemporary masters such as Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring, Hijack is gaining popularity with contemporary collectors from all over the world and shows no signs of slowing down.
