Rather unusually for this artist somebody has taken the effort of detailing the pictures on view such as works by Andrea del Sarto, Carlo Dolci and Rafaelle.
These works don’t come up very often but the artist seems to have dedicated himself to painting different rooms in the Pitti palace in exceptional detail. This is a large example and in particularly good condition, and the majestic use of rich golds, reds and yellows really make this painting a centre piece.
