Artist Comments
Inspired by many of the Fauve landscapes of Maurice de Vlaminck, this work creates a color world in which every tone ; highlight, mid tone, and shadow, is a color. The result is a statement work which may induce you to take a stroll down your own favorite city block in search of inspiration. The sides of the gallery-wrapped canvas are painted brown, and the piece arrives ready to hang.
About the Artist
Robert Hofherr avoids depicting a landscape exactly as he sees it or as the viewer might expect. Instead, he enjoys reimagining landscapes and painting his pieces indoors at a fairly rapid pace. The works of French Fauve artists Maurice de Vlaminck and Andr; Derain initially got him interested in painting, and also influenced his decision to not use grey in his works. During his free time he enjoys spending time with his kids, walking his dogs and taking road trips to out-of-way places in the mid-Atlantic region. He currently lives in Maryland.

Artist John Jaster paints in a style he describes as realistic impressions, capturing colorful views of his adventures across the Americas. "People always ask me how I get such deep brilliant colors," says John. "The answer is layers. Since acrylic paint dries mostly transparent, it requires multiple layers of paint to build up to a specific color.
