About

Vyacheslav Zabelin (1935- 2001) Considered a living master during his lifetime in Moscow, painted Church Interior of the Resurrection in 1989. Zabelin had already 300 paintings in museum collections throughout the world at the time of his death. A Surikov professor and an artist who was held in such high regard by the state. He was awarded studio space with views of the Kremlin. The artwork was collected from the artists studio in Moscow and is currently part of the John and Kathy Wurdeman collection. "Zabelin's color relationships and use of color and light are masterful", says James Yarosh, "When I began exhibiting Russian Realism at my gallery in 1998, Zabelin's paintings were new to the American market and I remember clients needed a moment to realize the quality of what they were seeing still at a gallery level. For myself and my art collector clientele who collect, Zabelin's paintings have become among their most cherished paintings to acquire." Zabelin was also considered the father of Russian Impressionism. This artwork can be found on page 168 of his artist book, Master of Color.
