Bernard Corey
Into the Clearing

About the Item

Bernard Corey gained national recognition for his beautifully rendered landscapes paintings of the New England countryside and shore. Even in his early eighties, the artist rarely missed a day of painting "on location" in the great outdoors. If the snow was flying and temperatures were sub-freezing, Corey would merely add another layer of clothing and keep on painting. The artist’s strong sense of design, combined with his subtle yet masterful use of color, earned Corey more than ninety-three awards for his paintings, including seven gold medals. His quiet, gentle nature and quick sense of humor are often reflected in his peaceful, luminous landscapes of rural farms and sheltered coves. During his lengthy career, Corey earned membership in the Allied Artists of America, Salmagundi Club, Guild of Boston Artists, Hudson Valley Art Association, North Shore Art Association, and the Academic Artists Society.
