Original oil on canvas painting of the old Gingon Mill located in Pierre Perthuis France by the well known artist Charles Blondin. Pierre Perthuis is a village located in Burgundy, France. The Gingon mill was a paper mill. Signed lower left. Condition is excellent. Circa 1950. Inscription verso of the location as well as a secondary signature by the artist. Original ornate wood carved frame in fine condition. Overall framed measurements are 28.5 by 33 inches. Provenance: A Florida collector.

Charles Blondin was a French impressionist painter and print maker known for his depictions of Paris during different seasons. Born in 1913 in France his most active period dates from c. 1928 to the 1950s. He died in 1991.
The Paris Etching Society and the Camilla Lucas Gallery published a colorful series of color etchings by Blondin of iconic views of Paris. His birth name is unknown as he took the name of Charles Blondin the famous tight rope walker from the 19th century.

Charles Blondin
Charles Blondin was a French impressionist painter and print maker known for his depictions of Paris during different seasons. Born in 1913 in France, Blondin lived and painted Paris during the 1930's and 1940's and he was a member of the School of Paris, or Ecole de Paris and his most active period dates from 1928 to the 1950s. The Paris Etching Society and the Camilla Lucas Gallery published a colorful series of color etchings by Blondin of iconic views of Paris. His birth name is unknown as he took the name of Charles Blondin from the famous Jean-François Gravelet dit Charles Blondin (1824-1897) whom was a French tight rope walker who crossed the Niagara on a tightrope in 1859. The artist Charles Blondin died 1991.
