DESCRIPTION Expressive Mediterranean landscape depicting a rural church bell tower set against a luminous Catalan mountain range, painted in 1977 by Joan Joseph Garí. The composition combines architectural clarity with atmospheric depth, creating a balanced and highly decorative structure typical of the Catalan post-impressionist tradition. The warm tonal treatment of the church contrasts beautifully with the cool mountain blues behind it, producing a refined chromatic harmony especially attractive in interior settings. Garí’s confident brushwork and material paint surface reinforce the authenticity of mid-20th-century Mediterranean landscape painting, a genre increasingly appreciated by collectors seeking regional European works with strong decorative presence and historical continuity. The bell tower motif, a recurring symbol of Mediterranean identity, adds narrative charm and architectural elegance, making this painting particularly suitable for collectors of Spanish landscape painting and interiors inspired by southern European light and atmosphere. An excellent example of collectible Catalan post-impressionist landscape painting from the mature period of the artist. ARTIST BIO Joan Joseph Garí (Granollers, 1922) developed a consistent painterly language within Catalan post-impressionist landscape traditions. Trained in Granollers and at the School of Fine Arts in Cádiz, he began exhibiting regularly from around 1950 in Barcelona, Terrassa, Vic, Olot, Sant Cugat, Lleida, Bilbao, Vilafranca del Penedès and other Spanish cities. Such works remain especially desirable among collectors seeking authentic European regional painting with strong decorative impact and timeless interior presence.
