Kathleen Piunti (1928 - 2016) The Cardozo, Miami Beach, Florida, 1995 Oil on canvas 32 x 60 inches Signed lower right Provenance: Uptown Gallery, New York City, 1996 John & Sonia Oram, Savannah, Georgia (acquired directly from the above) Private Collection, Massachusetts A beautiful sunny street scene in Miami depicting the Cardozo South Beach hotel flanked by palm trees. Kathleen was born in Chicago Heights, IL on April 25 1928. Kathleen's lifelong passion was her art. She attended the Art Institute of Chicago, and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Art Education. While raising her family, she taught art at elementary and junior high schools. As a contemporary realist, she painted a wide range of subject matter, capturing objects and people in everyday life. As an accomplished photorealist, she was best known for her cityscapes, with a career that spanned over five decades. Her work was exhibited in galleries from New York City to Sarasota, FL, and her work can be found as part of private, public, and corporate collections all over the United States. As stated in her own words; "Our visual world gives me great pleasure. A subject may attract me because of its color, contrasts of light, or its geometry. Painting people and objects in their surroundings is my celebration of life".
