ANY COUNTRY THAT USES 110W WILL NEED TO USE A TRANSFORMER Artist biography Born into a family of artists, curators, art dealers, professors and critics, Lyora Pissarro has been immersed in the art world from a very young age. She sold her first painting at 6 years old and has been a determined artist ever since. During her time at school, she was awarded an art scholarship, but her love for art led her down a different path. She was inspired to pursue an undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology because of her passion for Anthony Gormley and social life. As a student at the University of Manchester, Lyora turned her attention to performing arts and the medium of the body as a tool for investigating issues of both art and life. Her studies focused on the anthropology of art above all, and her final thesis was an exploration of the dialectical relationship between anthropology and art, conducted through an investigation into the work of Marina Abramovic. Following Manchester, Lyora attended Rhode Island School of Design and Hunter College, obtaining her second undergraduate degree in Fine Art. Based in New York, Lyora has been very active in the art world. She has worked in galleries and exhibited her own work, which was featured in the first exhibition encompassing the work of all five generations of the Pissarro family, held in June 2014 at the Russell Collection in Austin, Texas.
