Marcia Wise
"Tuscan Landscape", oil painting, Italian countryside, reds, green, blue, violet

2017

About the Item

Marcia Wise’s “Tuscan Landscape” is a large 48 x 36 inch oil painting drenched in sunlit warm deep reds and greens with a dark blue-violet mixture at the base. Marcia Wise’s “Tuscan Landscape” originated from her last visit to Tuscany and is a part of her recent series. It is a large oil painting on canvas with a color palette tending toward the warmth the artist experienced in the Italian countryside. Marcia created these color harmonies using her broken color application in multi-layers of paint while continuing to break up the landscape into blocks, rounded forms, and different shapes of colors. She has succeeded in leading the viewer’s eye from the lower ground and into the lights of the distant landscape and sky. The lightest layers of pinks, oranges and yellows in the sky-area clearly expresses the artist’s intent to bring to the viewer her inner sense of hope and peace. This painting continues around and onto the edges of the canvas and is unframed. It is signed by the artist on the front. Marcia Wise is a Massachusetts-based contemporary oil painter and educator whose paintings are inspired by nature's landscape forms and patterns, light effects and reflections, and the play of textures. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally. Wise is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.

  • "One-Way Ticket to Paris", landscape, abstract, blues, browns, oil painting
    By Alexandra Rozenman

Alexandra Rozenman’s “One-way to Paris” 16 x 20 x 2.5 oil on canvas painting is a part of her landscape series where she plays with reality and abstraction inside the familiar place. The painting is a well thought- through abstract painting that symbolizes both departure and arrival. The dramatic combination of blues and beautiful browns in geometrical interposition of forms gives us a feeling of going away, departure, speed, light, and serendipity filled with expectations and purifying beauty. The light of dreamy suns above the horizon is suddenly deep green and energizes and calms the senses at the same time. We wonder thinking about the future, a highway that magically finds a way to transform into one lonely Paris street light...

Alexandra Rozenman’s “Redon’s Spirit” is a 36 x 24 x 2.5 oil painting on canvas. It is a part of her on-going series called “Beasts and Beauties”. Big and heavy sky filled with white and grey clouds, white moon and a flock of flying away birds fills two thirds of the painting creating a feeling of weight, time and an open space. There is a magic divider under it – something that is part umbrella, part inside-out tent, and part ships sails. It keeps us from something bad and powerful like a Devil’s Eye...
