Raymond Thibesart
Raymond Thibésart was born into an affluent family in the town of Troyes, the historical capital of the Champagne region in France. Shortly afterward, the family moved to Enghiens-les-Bains, an attractive spa town to the North of Paris. It was here that they met the Boggios, a charismatic family who had just emigrated from Venezuela; Emilio Boggio, a talented Impressionist painter, became Thibésart's long-standing mentor and friend, encouraging his early promise and providing him with his first art lessons.
Thibésart began his formal training at the École des Beaux Arts and subsequently at the Académie Julian where he was taught by Jules Lefebvre and Tony Robert Fleury. After art school, he maintained his friendship with Emilio Boggio and they both moved to Vaux sur Seine, northwest of Paris. They frequently traveled throughout Europe, including trips to Italy, Corsica and Switzerland. They were often joined by Henri Martin (1860–1943) who, like Thibesart, remained faithful to an Impressionist style for most of his life.
Thibésart lived a long life and painted prolifically, a favorite subject being blossoming trees on the banks of the Seine. It was only the loss of his sight at the age of 92 that put a halt to his artistic output, just two years before his death in 1968.
The artist exhibited throughout his life, notably at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1897 (he was awarded a silver medal in 1922), the Salon des Indépendants from 1905 and at the Salon d’Automne. Thibésart’s work can be found in public and private collections, including at the Musée de Troyes in his birthplace.

- "Brume Sur La Seine (Mist On The Seine)" Pastel Raymond Thibesart (1874-1968)By Raymond ThibesartLocated in SANTA FE, NM'Brume Sur La Seine (Mist On The Seine)' Raymond Thibesart (France, 1874-1968) Circa 1920s Pastel on Paper 12.6 x 9.5 (16 3/4 x 13 3/4 frame) inches Signed lower left Raymond Thibesart was born into an affluent family on May 2nd, 1874. As a small child, Thibesart’s family moved to a suburb of Paris where the very young artist found a wealth of teachers and inspiration to pull from. Thibesart showed such proclivity for drawing at an early age, and had enough talent that famed impressionist Emile Boggio began giving him lessons when he was just 11 years old. Eventually, Thibesart began formal training at the Lycee Rollin in Paris, followed by studies at L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Academie Julian. While working in Symbolism, Thibesart became a student of the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art movements of his native France and began winning numerous medals in France, including the gold medal from the Societe des Artistes Francais in 1897. Thibesart then began his studies with the famed Impressionist Henri Martin for much of his early life. From Martin, he learned the technique of “plein air" painting who as a master of the discipline. Proficiency of this technique and its aesthetic, freed up the young artist, allowing him the ability to create amazingly beautiful light and shadow splayed across his trademark subjects which frequently included the landscapes of Italy...Category

- Contemporary French Fauvist Impressionist Landscape, Le Crépuscule. Pastel.Located in Cotignac, FRContemporary Fauvist Impressionist pastel of colourful landscape by Belgian artist Francis Besson. Signed to the very bottom right and presented in a custom white wood and patinated frame. A magnificent colourscape of reds, russets, blues, oranges and black. Whirls of colour shape this gorgeously sumptuous pastel of a landscape. The contrast between colour, light and shade make for a wonderfully impactful composition. The use of pastel softens the whole effect and gives an impressionistic feeling. Besson was born in Dundee (Scotland) in 1943 however as a young child moved to Belgium where he later became famous as an actor. His family kept a second home in Cotignac in Provence which he visited often until finally going to live there himself in the early 2000s. Francis Besson now lives and works in the beautiful village of Cotignac in Provence in the south of France. His often impressionistic almost pointillist work is inspired by the nature he sees around him in this lovely part of the world. The intensity of the light , the rocks and forests of Provence all feature in his paintings. He is known for both landscapes and abstract works and has often collaborated with other local artists. - "Landscape #10", oil painting on cradled wood, resin finish, black wood frameLocated in Toronto, OntarioLandscape #10 is an oil painting on cradled wood panel with chalk and graphite, and measures 24" high by 18" wide by 2" deep. It is finished with a clear resin across the surface, lending Landscape #10 a particular warmth and liquidity that is lovely to behold. It is framed in a black wood shadowbox frame. Will’s new landscapes are inspired by the shorelines of Lake Erie and the farmland of Norfolk County, Ontario. His true project – to explore and capture sudden bursts of cloud light, a disintegrating horizon, the ephemeral nature of shifting shores and lands. From Will Hudson: “From one day to the next it seemed nothing was the same. There was no permanence to a particular view or setting. That’s what I painted.” Recognized for seductive, enigmatic works in oil on wood panel, Will's picture surfaces are fascinating – he favors oil paint with chalk and graphite – and often allows the wood grain to emerge as a natural texture. He finishes each painting with a clear resin that operates as a lens. Admitting light and transmitting light, lending a palpable warmth and liquidity to the experience. Will Hudson is a formally trained architect originally from the UK, now practicing in Toronto, Canada. With an eclectic career in the art world, Will has shown and performed chalk street painting and murals in across North America and Europe. His installations have been exhibited at Nuit Blanche in Toronto in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014. His paintings were featured in a solo show, "Things You Think You've Seen" at Artists' Network Gallery in 2018. His most recent solo exhibitions were here at Gagné Contemporary...Category
