In this rustic painting by artist Sally Adams, a wooden park bench sits beside a lone leafless tree. A resting raven perches on the backrest, while its companions fly into the misty atmosphere. "Sometimes a quiet, peaceful resting place is all one needs to contemplate and restore."
About the Artist
Sally Adams recalls the moment she became a painter at the age of four; her love for art is innate and lifelong. Her intention is to extract beauty from everyday life. The advice of an art teacher, “less is more,†is one of Sally’s guiding principles. Her artwork brims with intimate simplicity and childlike joy. She enjoys simplifying and sweetening compositions from nature, such as trees and birds, painting only the core components necessary to convey an emotional connection. Sally has three grown daughters who are all active artists, and they work together whenever possible. “I taught them the joy of creating art when they were young,†says Sally, “and they taught me to do what I love for a living, by their own example, in adulthood.â€

- Flotilla, Original PaintingBy Jaime EllsworthLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
A minimalist scene of a green boat sailing under moons, a giant flower and infinity-shaped clouds. Artist Jaime Ellsworth says the painting represents sailing off to a land of peace. Rendered in her signature style combining modern and primitive painting elements.About the Artist
Jaime Ellsworth paints animals. Her career as a cowhand never got off the ground, so she stumbled into art never knowing it would complement her passion for animals so completely. Most subjects are her own, but lately she has expanded out of her corral to include bears and beasts not commonly seen on San Juan Island, in the Pacific Northwest, where she's lived for the last 30 years. She suspects it will be years before she runs out of inspiration or has jeans that aren’t covered with paw prints or paint.Words that describe this painting: boat, clouds, flower, ship, seascape...

- Distant Shore, Oil PaintingBy Heidi HyblLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
Abstracted, minimal view of the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The painting captures the motion of the rolling waves and a warm, tonal sunset. Rich green, blues, muted yellow and touches of red along the edges bring the scene to life.About the Artist
Artist Heidi Hybl starts each day listening to the birds sing in the canyon near her home in Big Sur. Then, she makes a cup of tea, reviews the previous day’s work, turns on her podcasts and starts. She paints in a small studio that is separate from her house, and works on several pieces at a time within what she would call “organized chaos.” She also takes time to tend her flowers, vegetables, chickens and goats. A former medical professional, Heidi worked for several years with laser machines, developing a knowledge and a fascination with the color spectrum and light. Living in Big Sur offers inspiration in the ever-changing atmospheric conditions that arise when hills, canyons, and ocean meet. She then reduces these elements to an abstract experience on canvas in a color palette derived from her surroundings: sunsets and storms, fire and fog.Words that describe this painting: abstract, seascape, minimal, ocean, coast, seascape, minimalism, non-representational, oil painting, green
