About the Item
A stunning oil painting scene depicting figures by the beach in a sunny day at Nice, France done in the 20th Century. The vibrant colors and impressionistic brushwork is done with both detail and precision. The people are depicted on a beautiful sunny day with many figures going about their day, with the beach Umbrellas and sail boats in the background, is a wonderful execution by Demarest, which was a favorite spot for many contemporary Parisian artists from that time. This painting is signed by the artist lower left and it comes comes housed in a beautiful gold tone giltwood frame with linen liner and ready to be displayed with hanging wire on verso.

Suzanne Demarest was born in 1900 in the United States. She studied in Nice and Cannes Southern France, as well as at the Royal Academy in England. Demarest was known for her charming intimate figurative scenes portraying life in the North East and she lived and painted as well in France. Under acknowledged as one of America's most active Plein air artists, Demarest achieved excellence in her career, producing 100's of breathtaking works, now in many private collections and museums around the world. She was profoundly active, picking up her subjects from the beaches, parks, restaurants, cities, seasides, and much more. She died in 1985.
