Signed lower right, 'Thomas Nash' and painted circa 1900; additionally, signed and titled verso 'Hermosa Beach, Drawing in the Fish Net'.

Thomas Nash was working in southern California in 1879 when he painted a series of Kern River scenes; from there, he traveled north to Oregon where he painted several recorded views of the Columbia River. By 1880, he was sketching around the Colorado River in the Calico Mountain region and, in 1894, he painted scenes of rural Michigan. Nash returned to California from 1903-13, where he painted seascapes and landscapes from San Diego to San Francisco. We are pleased to offer this dramatic Modernist work by this rare California painter.
