About the Item
Yellow Fields no.3 by artist Alexa Roscoe [2022]
Yellow Fields no.3 is an original oil painting by artist Alexa Roscoe. In this bold and vibrant painting Alexa has captured a depth of view of the fields framed by the strong dark lines of the trees. The trees in a silhouette form stand in the foreground of the brightly coloured fields creating depth in the painting. Alexa has used bold brushstrokes in the foreground creating a pattern of shadows under the trees.

Alexa Roscoe, artist and painter, has contemporary landscape paintings available at Wychwood Art. Alexa Roscoe ,studied at Falmouth College of Arts 2000-2003, where she specialised in printed textile design and met her husband. After graduating Alexa moved to London where she worked as a freelance designer for a printed textile company. Alexa Roscoe now lives in Oxfordshire with her husband and two children. They live amongst fields and trees which is a constant inspiration for the Alexa. Alexa Roscoe says of her works: I am drawn to painting the landscapes around me, enjoying the colours in nature and how the colours change through the seasons. I love seeing new ideas for paintings as I drive through the countryside, and different compositions on my walks. I love to watch how the landscape changes through the seasons. Each season bringing its own beauty and colours. In my most recent work I have been enjoying the silhouettes of the leafless trees standing against the different tones of greys and greens. Even winter is inspirational! I have a passion for colour and love to notice the way they compliment each other and how they sit together in nature. When I am absorbed in a painting working intensely with colour I start to notice all the colours all around me in a different way. How the roads can have a purple look to them and how the hedges have so many colours in them. Wychwood Art. I even enjoy those great winter days. Noticing the beautiful tones of greys and how they sit next to the golden autumnal colours and green fields. I love using oil paints, how they are so versatile. Sometimes I like to layer the paint creating a striking flat finish. In contrast to this I also like to create works with energetic bold brushstrokes. Sometimes combining both of these techniques. The rich colours and bold brush strokes create depth and interest to my paintings. I have always enjoyed and have been inspired by colourists such as Henri Matisse, Hockney and Bonnard. The way they see and express colour. I feel and know that working with colour brings joy and if we can bring colour into our lives we also bring joy.
