"This Dream Again" is a series created by contemporary artist Misha Gudwin for the group exhibition "Floral & Machine" at St. Paulus Church in Basel in 2023. The drawing conveys a fantasy-like, surrealistic reality, similar to a dreamlike experience. The images are exaggeratedly cute on the one hand and eerie on the other. It is as if we are peering into this otherworld through a shaped canvas frame, memorizing, with its shape, a map of the starry sky or binoculars.
The plot and characters refer to various creepy content from the web, somebody like animatronics - mechanical growth dolls or Furby toys. In conveying an absurdist world in this series, the artist was inspired by the visual internet subculture of Wiredcor. Creating such a magical world is an escapist attempt to escape from aggressive reality, an attempt to escape from it into a dreamlike world.

Misha Gudwin is a contemporary artist, born in 1995. His artistic practice is focused on studying the inextricable relationship between material and virtual (digital) objects. He explores the interactions of street and digital environment using found object, reflecting the industrial image of post-Soviet cities. The artist says: "I propose to document our modernity, where the digital is no longer something new, and the human environment has long been combining signs of both material and digital space." Robert’s work incorporates small poetic texts, often in a childlike manner. She did not utilize conventual tools, such as a paintbrush, but moved the paint with her hands. Though right-handed, she preferred to use her left hand to tap into a fragile creative energy akin to the mark-making of an untrained child’s first gestures.

Inez Storer first studied at the San Francisco College for Women, the San Francisco Art Institute and the University of California at Berkeley. She later earned a bachelor's degree at Dominican College in San Rafael and, in 1971, a graduate degree in at California State University in San Francisco.
From Inverness, California, north of San Francisco and working from a studio in Point Reyes, Inez Storer creates mixed-media narrative paintings, collages and assemblages in naive-sophisticated style, which she describes as Magic Realism: "I am a visual raconteur. I use paint to tell stories." Most of these stories are explorations of the human condition with characters who seem allegorically to be walking tightropes. She gets many ideas from her studio collection of old postcards, toys, photos and other random items that she often incorporates into her work. Inez Storer is also known for her prints and drawings.
Storer was born in Los Angeles to German parents who left that country in 1933 to avoid Hitler. Her father got a job in Hollywood with Billy Wilder as an art director, and her mother was an actress and dancer. Inez spent much time as a child on movie sets. She was raised a Catholic as her parents wanted no one to know her mother was Jewish and uses Catholic imagery in her work.
In 1974, she met Andrew Romanoff, a Russian artist who became her second husband. In this marriage, she became a part of Russian royalty because Andrew was the grand nephew of the Czar Nicholas II, Russia's last emperor...
