About the Artist
Bigger is better. For Amber Dixon, the actions required to create large art are directly linked to the power of her pieces. She loves to create pieces that engulf the viewer. She draws inspiration from many feminists and performance artists of the 60s. To tell a story racked with emotion, Amber creates work with words and lines from her favorite books or songs.

- Bathed in the Spotlight, Oil PaintingBy Sumner CrenshawLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
"A confident Curly Girl struts across the stage, channeling her inner Betty Boop," Sumner explains. "She flashes a playful tattoo as she moves across the floor, pictured here as stripes of black and lemon yellow, while the limelight curves around her. She is all about putting the fun in femininity." This painting is part of Sumner's signature series of Curly Girls. These flowing, Art Nouveau-inspired characters represent transformation. Sumner always places the figure alone and in the middle of a personal story - in the middle of their transformation.About the Artist
Sumner Crenshaw infuses her work with movement, lines and varying degrees of color. She currently lives in Maryland and finds inspiration in the work of Salvador Dali. Her goal is to keep exploring the minimalist, narrative surrealism she's been moving toward.Words that describe this painting: figurative, nude, feminism, playful, fun, cartoon, art nouveau , nudes, representational, oil painting, white

- Oil on Canvas Japanese Pop Artist Tadashi Asoma Reclining NudeBy Tadashi AsomaLocated in Wilmette, ILTadashi Asoma was a Japanese-American painter. Born in Japan in 1923, his career began when, in 1958, the Japanese government awarded him a scholarship to study painting in Paris. After Paris, Asoma visited the United States and became fascinated with the current American style of painting. He eventually moved to New York, near the East Village, where he studied and worked for three years. Asoma did return to Japan for a period of time, however, he moved to New York permanently in 1961 and stayed in the region until his passing in 2017. This early work by Asoma displays the American influence that so enamored him when he first visited the United States. Rendered in flat and discrete sections of bold color, the impressive composition bears an interesting relation to the work of Pop artist Tom Wesselmann. Much like Wesselmann’s work, Asoma builds his image with applications of bold and flat color, often isolating and highlighting sections of the composition, bringing the viewer’s eye to these discrete sections. In this work, a green bed...Category
