About the Item
We got to know Erik van Elven years ago through Facebook, we were Facebook-friends way before we even wanted to open up a gallery. We shared a passion: modern realism. That sparked a nice contact between us. Erik developed quickly, while working and studying hard we got to witness him improve fast, and his work became more and more personal. When painting a portrait, Erik wants to touch the soul of the portrayed, and he can accomplish that without a doubt. In 2016, he won a Dutch plenair event called the ‘Haagse Schooldag’, an event with 30 contestants, and in 2017 he won the online public award of the Groene Hart Art Award.

- Table with blue Tablecloth on Summerday- 21st Century Contemporary PaintingBy Keimpe van der KooiLocated in Nuenen, Noord BrabantThis Painting is made by Dutch Artist Keimpe van der Kooi. He likes to paint still-lifes in colorful ambiance. In his paintings there always will be cloths, bowls, flowers and a beautiful sunlight. As an artist, he already made a name for himself in various ways. He participated and won 'Stars on the canvas', is now a teacher at the Classical Academy where he teaches third-year students everything about color. He has many successful exhibitions behind his name and his work has been sold all over the world. Keimpe also publishes a lot about art and artists in magazines such as Atelier and Palet. The beautiful place where Keimpe has his studio since two years is located in Drenthe. At the edge of forests and fields, Keimpe can retire and concentrate on his still lifes, portraits, landscapes and gardens. The latter subject, garden and landscape, can also be seen during the exhibition 'Rhythm, stillness and movement'. Come on 'is the work where Keimpe painted his own garden. An inviting path almost literally enters the garden. Tuinen made his tutor Matthijs Röling, gardens also made Keimpe van der Kooi himself. We see similarities but also many differences. We see the beautiful colors that we know from Keimpe's still lifes in his garden. Purple, yellow and red flowers grow along the garden path of Keimpe, the colors and details disappear to the back so that you have the feeling to look into the depth. Magnificent. Keimpe also painted a sandy path in Drenthe for this exhibition. In the summer light the green colors get a warm glow. The coil with the shadow also ensures that you can walk down the path, the depth in the work is enormous. As a result, you do not hang a flat painting on the wall, but you get space! The other paintings by Keimpe are still lifes. Ginger pots...Category

- Afternoon - 21st Century Contemporary Oil Painting by Dutch Marten HuitsingBy Marten HuitsingLocated in Nuenen, Noord BrabantThe paintings of this artist have been part of the collection of Galerie Bonnard since his graduation (2010) at the Classical Academy of Groningen. Huitsing has quickly become successful, his style, craftsmanship and choice of subject appeals to many people. Yet Marten, he says, does not want to repeat himself. He is always looking for the way of painting that suits him at that moment. The sympathetic artist got national fame because he beautifully portrayed a famous Dutch TV presentator Mart Smeets in the 'Paint the stars' program. Honest, very recognizable and with a narrative painting. Mart Smeets was overwhelmed, praising his comments. Rightly so! From that moment. Marten Huitsing...Category

- In The Cafe, 21st Century Contemporary Oil Painting, Dutch Artist Flip GaasendamBy Flip GaasendamLocated in Nuenen, Noord BrabantThis painting is made by Flip Gaasendam. An important member of the 'Dutch Northern Figurative Painters' . His paintings are called 'Poems in paint' . The place where he painted this work is at Schiermonnikoog, one of the Islands in the north of the Netherlands. He likes to stay and work on the island and pains he typical sphere of the old Dutch sphere in that famous Hotel. Flip Gaasendam tells with his paintings where he likes, there, in those places, he paints. His recognizable loose touch, carefully chosen colors, spherical landscapes, interiors and portraits have been part of the permanent collection of Galerie Bonnard for years. We read somewhere that Flip Gaasendam has a 'Flip Gaasendam veil' on his subjects. That is, we believe, a good description of the works of this highly esteemed artist. "Poetry in paintings" is also a statement that fits with the work and can be read in the numerous descriptions that can be found about the artist. The artist himself says that he wants to put life to a halt in his work. He says the following about his way of working: 'Because I am an aquarellist from home, I learned how to paint transparently in tone and tone. I also use that in my oil paints. My work is classified as post-impressionistic. When I paint, however, I forget everything about art history. I like a lot of things, from Alma Tadema to Andrew Wyeth, but I am a painter of today. It therefore goes too far to say that I consciously go back to the past. I work unorthodox. I do not apply the paint with a fixed method. I brush with wipes, use the palette knife, work with my hands, etc. That my palette is heavily controlled by the color green, is because I often make a painting blond with cobalt and ocher. My themes are often nostalgic and romantic. as a child, I thought the morning mist was beautiful, and with the light effect in the Groninger station restoration it is just as well. ' The modest artist can rightly be called one of the forerunners of the new impressionism...Category
