A fine early 19th Century portrait in oil, showing a young boy in traditional smock dress and trousers, holding a posy of flowers as his little dog rests its head lovingly in his lap. The painting is unsigned and presented in a substantial late 19th Century gilt frame with ornate acanthus leaf corner ornamentation and palmette strap work. Finished with a contemporary gilt slip. On re-lined canvas.
