Celebrated for his elegant and painterly views of life at the turn-of-the 20th century and for his visual effects in film, for which he won the 1971 Academy Award, Alan Maley divided his time between England, where he pursued his career as a fine artist, and California where he worked as a set designer and painter for Walt Disney productions among others.
