Fiona Smith
Pouring Bowl 1, Fiona Smith, Original Art, Still Life Painting, Ceramic Painting

Pouring Bowl 1, original painting acrylic on board, Size: 30.5 x 25.5 cm. This painting is sold framed in a white frame, size of framed work 38 x 32.5 cm. Fiona Smith comments “My background is in teaching and, briefly, millinery, but I had always enjoyed drawing and started painting a few years ago. A potter friend gave me one of her beautiful bowls and I fell in love with its clean lines and tactile shape and wanted to try and capture its stillness. Symbolically bowls are said to be containers for the soul, all I know is that I feel very calm and peaceful when I paint them. I build up the colour in multiple layers of paint, applying the paint quite thinly and then wiping away most of each layer until only a trace of colour remains.”
