Wonderful impressionist still life oil painting of flowers in green vase by Fredrick Van Ormer (American, 1927-2004), circa 1970. Signed lower right edge. Unframed. Image size: 10"H x 8"W.
Fred Van Ormer painted every single day that he could lift a brush. He painted special holiday paintings each Christmas and Thanksgiving. He numbered and dated all of his work on the reverse side. He rarely titled work. But words were important to him. He made a series of over 3000 collages on the backs of “No postage required” postcards, which he sent off to the great mail processing centers of the world. Humorous, sarcastic, politically motivated cards collaged with cut out words and images that cheered the lives of bored workers were sent out like messages in bottles. If you were lucky enough to know Fred Van Ormer, you were deluged with an outpouring of art and love.
