About

Man Made: Evolution of Roses, from one of our nation's most in demand conservation / preservation artists, Jane Kim, who inspires us to love and care for the Earth one work of art at a time. In most cases, the roses we grow in our gardens and give to our loved ones are not flowers nature originally created.
Man Made: Evolution of Roses represents the four stages of floral ancestry, from wild roses at the top to the hybridized double delight rose at the bottom. This painting reminds us of humanity's profound influence on the environment and hopes to inspire all of us to make decisions that will yield something as beautiful as a rose moving forward.

This important painting was included in Jane Kim's 2016 Artist in Residency: non(NATIVE), at the de Young Museum of Art in San Francisco, where her provocative works consider relationships between native and non-native species. In 2015 Kim created the world's largest Ornithology mural, So Simple a Beginning, at Cornell University Lab of Ornithology. The mural is 70 x 40 feet, and depicts the evolution and diversity of birds in the Visitor Center, Ithaca, NY. Jane Kim's Migrating Murals span the Eastern Sierra, and her paintings are collected Internationally.

Acrylic and latex paint with colored pencil on paper, mounted to wood panel. The painting is 108 x 27 inches. Signed front pencil and verso in ink. It can hang, or lean against a wall at an angle.
