About the Item

Joel Carson Jones Biography American, b. 1975 Joel Carson Jones lives, teaches, and paints in Northeastern Pennsylvania, where he was born in 1975.  With the work-ethic of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, he embodies a humble appreciation of simplicity, nature, and the friendships his discipline has fostered. Joel has established an international reputation for his Still Life and Trompe L'oeil paintings. In 2008, Joel Carson Jones was granted the title of Living Master by the International Art Renewal Center. Jones completed his undergraduate work at Marywood University, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and also studied abroad in Angers, France. Joel, however, needed to pursue his love of Realism, still-life, and Trompe l'oeil. His vision and ability to render with impeccable clarity has put him at the center of today's spreading movement—Contemporary Renaissance in the Classical atelier. His reputation, expertise, and work are sought world-wide. His works continue to appear in many outstanding publications such as The Artist's Magazine, International Artist Magazine and American Art Collector.

Mary Ellen Johnson "Cherry Cheesecake" Oil on Panel 38 x 27 1/2 Inches Note: This painting is framed in dark cherry wood. Mary Ellen Johnson is internationally recognized as one of the top Photo Realist painters working today whose extraordinary area of expertise is images of food. Johnson actually describes herself as a ‘Precision Realist’ whose primary subject is food - cheesecakes, PB & J sandwiches, parfaits, pancakes, banana splits, ice cream, hot dogs, cupcakes, waffles, muscles, sushi, etc.. These brilliantly painted works capture every nuance and are rendered with amazing precision. Stunningly beautiful and incomparably 'real,' her paintings are a delight in terms of subject matter, color, perfect composition, and whimsy, with an approachable quality that elevates them far beyond expertly executed mechanical renderings. Unequaled for their brilliance and dramatic depictions of mundane subjects with their connotations of nostalgia, comfort and tradition, it is also her scale, cropping and extraordinary technical skill that render these works so overwhelmingly appealing. Johnson's paintings are acknowledged by the leading collectors in the country to represent the very best of the Photorealist tradition: “I make the panels large to give a monumental feeling to the painting when viewed. These large images not only confront the viewer with their size but with their tremendous sense of extravagance. My work explores the deep connection that food has with humanity.” Mary Ellen Johnson Included among the many accolades received for Johnson's work is a commission by the Canadian Government to paint 5 of Canada's favorite foods, images which were then translated into stamps, as well as a commission from The Cheesecake Factory's chain of restaurants for a "Strawberry Cheesecake with Whipped Cream" for their corporate headquarters in California. • 14th Street (Photo-Realist Oil Painting of Classic NYC Brick Building)
    By Richard Britell
    Located in Hudson, NY
Photo-realist oil painting of a classic brick building exterior in New York City 28 x 50 inches, oil on canvas painting Wire backing for easy hanging Unframed with white painted sides This contemporary, realistic oil painting of a New York City brick building exterior was painted by Richard Britell in 2019. Employing his mastery of the troupe l'oeil technique, Britell paints the smooth red colored stone building in extreme detail assuming a three-dimensional quality with close attention paid to shadow and perspective. This building is reminiscent of neo-classical architecture, popularized in the mid-late 1800's and the striking red exterior contrasts against the white stone window trim, further accentuating the painting's troupe l'oeil qualities. The painting on canvas is complete with wire on reverse for seamless hanging. About the artist: Richard Britell, a career painter, studied at Pratt Institute with Philip Pearlstein and Walter Erlebacher. His first show in NYC at Staempfli Gallery was sold out, and reviewed in the New York Times. Britell’s new works revolve around large, dreamy cityscapes tending toward abstraction. The artist currently lives in Pittsfield, MA.
