About the Item
A. Rigollot (France, 20th Century) designed this superb post-cubist and colorist abstract oil on board painting.
Colorist painting is characterized by intense color use, which becomes the dominant feature of the resultant work of art, more important than its other qualities. This tendency in painting was foreshadowed by French Impressionism in the late 19th Century and came to prominence in the work of the Fauvists in the early 20th Century. It has since surfaced in several individual styles and art movements outside France, the most prominent being the Scottish Colourists, the Polish Colourists, and the American abstract Color Field painters.
This painting titled "Twist" is a stunning colorful composition where the colors define the painter's vision of the world. The artwork is signed on the bottom right corner: A. Rigollot.
Newly reframed in an elegantly black high gloss wood frame.
For reference, the last pictures show the board before reframing.
