About
"Purple Flowers" is a seemingly simple still life. The composition is is centered which gives the painting of a delicate flower the feeling of a portrait. Spencer's works are both contemporary and classical at the same time.
Spencer is a young emerging artist and one of the top painters to graduate from the painting department of Arizona State University in years.
Spencer Simmons was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Spencer was brought up around painting. His grandmother, an equestrian and Western painter, took him into the studio at a very young age. His father, a house painter, showed him the importance of good materials and craftsmanship. He graduated from ASU with a degree in Fine Arts in 2015. Since then he has been faithfully devoted to painting in a traditional manner in oil and watercolor. He has trained at the Scottsdale Artists School and The Russian Academy of Fine Arts in Florence as well. Along with the love of capturing the likeness of a human being the enjoyment of capturing the essence of a landscape has become equally gratifying. He now spends most of his time painting outdoors.
