About the Item

An English expat living in New York City, Quentin Crisp came to prominence following the publication of his 1968 autobiography, The Naked Civil Servant. The book, which details Crisp’s coming of age and sexual exploits in repressive England, in part made him a gay icon. It was adapted into a film starring John Hurt in 1975. Image dimensions: 8 x 10 in. Framed dimensions: 16.125 x 18.625 Work is framed to archival standards by Handmade Frames of Brooklyn, New York. Stamped on verso by Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Foundation number also on verso. This is a unique work. Work comes with an authentication letter from the Andy Warhol Art Authentication Board. Provenance: From the artist to Pat Hackett to the current owner.
