Also available as a 20x24 in. print, in an edition of 5 at £2,160. Giacomo Brunelli was commissioned by The Photographer's Gallery, London, to capture the heart of the capital city where he lives. Made over the course of 2 years, Eternal London takes Brunelli's distinctive film noir aesthetic to create an evocative and atmospheric view of London, full of powerful light and shadow work. Framed by boldly abstract silhouettes of people and animals, London's famous landmarks are presented in a less-than-obvious way, reflected in the puddles that typify English weather or looming as a mysterious structure in the background. Captured during daily morning walks, Brunelli randomly chose a person to follow before focussing his camera on them. Working discreetly, like early 20th century photographers such as Jacob Riis and Lewis Hine, whose inconspicuous use of the camera allowed them to capture remarkable daily views, Brunelli shoots "from the hip" and makes use of other unusual and atypical angles to dramatically depict the inhabitants of this city.

His more famous subjects included the likes of Marc Chagall, Le Corbusier, Audrey Hepburn, and Albert Einstein. He also had a 37-year collaboration with Salvador Dalí, which resulted in several famous surrealist series including the “Dalí’s Mustache” portraits...
