Horacio Rodolfo de Sosa Cordero Andy Warhol Photograph enhanced with acrylic. Signed lower left. 14.25 x 9.25 in. - 36 x 23.5 cm. Gelatin silver print heightened w/acrylic (see other Horacio Rodolfo piece of art browsing on the website AYN GALLERY) Horacio Rodolfo de Sosa Cordero, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 29, 1945. The only son of the Marquis Don Rodolfo María de Sosa Cordero, a career military man, head of the squadron of cavalry cuirassiers in the province of Corrientes and Dña Angela Marcó del Pont, descendant of a noble, aristocratic family that dates back to the 14th century in the lands of Castile, Spain and who was part of the expedition to America, along with Juan Torres de Vera y Aragón, founder of Corrientes, Argentina. . With two years of age, after the marriage breakdown, he went to live with his father at the “El Transito” ranch, in Concepción, Corrientes Province, very close to the Esteros del Ibera, where his passion for horses was born, becoming years later he was a skilled rider and a great polo player. In 1965, he established himself in Paris and became close friends with painters such as Alberto and Diego Giacometti, Francis Bacon, Pablo Picasso, Wifredo Lam, Lucio Fontana and Emilio Petorutti, with whom he had long talks on painting and whom some of whom he had known since childhood. That same year he made his first exhibition in Europe, at the Galerie de Seine in Paris, France and all his works were sold. The friendly painters show great interest in his works and consider him “unpar”. Horacio is already a professional artist and decides to sign as Horacio Cordero. During this period, success not only flourishes as a painter, he is also at his best as a Polo player. He participates in tournaments alongside Porfirio Rubirosa, Prince Charles of England, Carlos Menditegui, the Sultan of Brunei, the Marajha of Kippur and reaches a handicap of 10 goals. In 1970 he received in Argentina the 1st Prize of the Painting Salon organized by the Hebraic Society with the vote of: Claro Betinelli, Ideal Sánchez and H. Irureta. In 1974, he received the 1st "Painting Prize" at the National Salon of Buenos Aires; in the Salta Hall Honorable Mention; in Madrid, Spain, the Carmen Arozena Prize and participates in the Ibero-American Biennial. In the 80s he was in Italy and was invited to participate in the movement called "Transvanguardia", created by art critic Achille Bonito Oliva, along with other Italian painters such as Sandro Chia, Francisco Clemente, Enzo Cucchi, Mimmo Paladino, Nicola of Maria, etc. All precursors of this movement of the 80s. Although he participates in some exhibitions among them: "Aperto 80" at the "Venice Biennale", among other exhibitions, he prefers not to adhere to any pictorial movement and to continue dedicating himself to painting and his other passion, his Polo horses and race PursSang. In 1983 he was invited to participate as a Jury of Honor in the Bogotá Paint Show, Colombia with: Alejandro Obregón, Fernando Botero and Pierre Restany. A year later the Futura de Paris publishing house publishes the book: “Bacon, Botero, Cordero, Haring, Cucchi, Rosdhal”. Since the 90s, he lives and works in New York, Monte-Carlo, Paris, London, Italy, although he maintains his official residence in Buenos Aires, on the property that was owned by the Greek magnate and his friend Aristoteles Onassis, decorated at the time by Jean Michel Franck and Dupre Lafon, one of the most chic residences in the Argentine capital. He periodically exhibits his works: painting or sculptures, in international galleries. His work is permanently exhibited in more than 25 museums in various cities around the world. Horacio Cordero is considered as one of the greatest painters and sculptors of the moment, as a great teacher, a reality of current art. He is also a writer, photographer, ceramist and designer of bronze jewelry and furniture, he designs for the famous internationally famous architect and decorator Juan Pablo Molyneux .. ” Horacio Cordero’s art works in international collections Argentina: Church of Nuestra Señora del Transito, in Salta.
