About the Item

Rick Hauser sees things “OverHead”, at “EyeLevel”, and “UnderFoot” as titled in his one-man shows. Rick is the owner and operator of The Framing Mill, a custom picture framing store, and co-owner of GAS Gallery and Studio. Both are located in Maplewood, NJ where Rick also resides. Too often we take for granted the mystery and beauty that is right in front of us. We become complacent in our environments. His current work, "Inversions", are all diptychs and have paired the rational with the irrational as we know it. These works may not hold the ambiguities in reality of M.C. Escher's works, but they do offer the viewer the ability / opportunity to view reality from an irrational perspective. Each piece, as a whole, has also offered me the opportunity to play on shapes, textures and light. ”I encourage you all to ‘flip it’! Look at something you see everyday upside-down or sideways. See it from a different perspective, you'll see something new. Open your eyes. You'll be fascinated as well. Hope you enjoy them!” -- Rick

John is one of those. Fishermen know their tides. They can tell time by the sun and find fish by listening to the bird’s callings. It’s never too hot; never too cold. Rod and reel...
