Chefoo Harbour of Junks is an albumen print made by an unidentified photographic studio.
Print in excellent condition, applied to cardboard.
Caption in Italian ink hand-written on hardcover. Print 22 x 27.5 cm, cardboard 26 x 33.5 cm
In the photograph a view of the harbour of Chefoo, shooted from the seaboard, in the foreground a traditional junk beached, at the edge a moltitude of boats.This photograph features a very nice albumin greyscale and shine. the distribution of the horizontal elements, interrupted by the center-boat, define masterful proportions.
This print was originally purchased by an Italian soldier who participated in the closing stages of the Boxer Revolt (1899 - 1901) as a foreign contingent (Regia Marina).
