About the Item

David Burdeny Saltern Study 18, Great Salt lake, UT, 2015 Archival Pigment Print Signature Label Price for Print only. Ask us for framing options. SALT pushes the preferred minimalist palette of this artist with aerial views of Mexico, Utah and Australia. Now it becomes an explosive array of colors contained between sinuous lines of rivers, roads and tracks either man-made, nature made or both. These abstract presentations appear closely akin to the 1950s and 1960’s period of painting history, making the observer question whether they are looking at a painting or a photograph. David’s willingness to take risks, eschew dogma and continuously pursue his innate curiosity for new subjects and themes has become a signature element in his work. Be it mounting a camera beneath a self-built drone, shooting from the deck of an Antarctic bound icebreaker or waiting for an ocean tide to advance, David faithfully embeds his own formal signature into each and every image further expressing a life long passion for the built environment and the camera’s interpretation of it. Distinctly David Burdeny, the photographs are rigorous yet graceful, inviting the viewer to form their own narrative as if they too were passing through the space or gazing into the horizon for the very first time.
