The world we live in makes us see as main priorities, as wealth, power, sparkling life, and beauty. Even photography is listed in the canons dictated by this society's rules which address us to the unknown. The images of this project, on the other hand, put us in front of a crossroad, with the free choice of looking at life that slowly goes away, through a decaying radish or a 'Swaroskian' fish that unconsciously shows its fragility: " life will go where it started and will not change or stop its course; it will make no noise, it will leave no trace of its speed: it will flow silently; it will not extend further either by order of kings or for the favour of the people: it will run as it started from the first day, it will never change its course, it will never linger." The biggest obstacle to living is the waiting, which depends on tomorrow, (but) it misses today. Arrange what is placed in the lap of fate and neglect what is in your power. The images of this project invite us to observe life vanish in a poetic, reflective way, using as a filter what we daily put under our teeth: salads, fruit, spices, meat, fish and so on, in harmonious and ironic, reflective and raw compositions. They are a game of seduction through which I would like to push the viewer to go beyond the immediate visual perception, to try to grasp through the elegant references of a nostalgic eye, that beauty which, even fading, it still retains in its decay, that sense of a fragile embrace before leaving for new horizons.

The images of the Sexy Golden Fruit project are inspired by classic art with pop-style interpretations of fresh fruit and vegetables painted in gold. The classic iconography of the “natura morta” has always been a stratagem to deal with the sexual and sentimental sphere: in fact, since the Middle Ages, we have numerous examples in history of the erotic life through the use of food which, today as then, is an element of everyday life. Catullus also wrote innumerable poems on food as a metaphor for the sexual sphere. A perfect cultural liaison: elements of the artistic and culinary tradition, intrinsic to a latent and profoundly pulsating feeling in living within each one of us "."Sexy Golden Fruit Series", where "the iconographic references are a mere starting point for a desecration practised paradoxically by painting the fruits in gold, with an overbearing allusion to the sexual metaphor that belongs since antiquity to the painting genre. Once again, if photography often wearily insists on a pleonastic exercise of hyper-realism that is inherent to the medium, it applies a sort of hyper-anti-naturalism. These fruits are above all thought-provoking, bold icons”. “Monica Silva...
