About the Item
Tropicarios #2 from Tropicarios series, 2017 by Paloma Castello
Digital photography print on chroma luxe.
Image size: 33" W x 21,6" H inches
Edition : 3/5 + 1AP
Similar to the travel logs of the ancient explorers, in her diaries, Castello portrays the landscapes and settings witnessed during several visits to the Colombian tropics, along with texts that describe what she saw and experienced there. Unconcerned with producing a reliable account of the places visited, these journals are instead a cartographic guide to the artist’s sensations in those places. Unable to separate the
experience from what is perceived, her lens becomes a true superposition of imagination and reality.
Cowboys, dinosaurs, cars, surfers, mountains, stones, palm trees... At first glance, these elements don't seem to have much in common, but as one's gaze delves deeper into the details it is possible to step inside a universe that seems nearer. The protagonists come alive and the separate elements form part of a nature suggesting autonomy as if these landscapes or scenarios actually existed and had been photographed.

Paloma Castello born 1988 Bogotá, Colombia. Use her work to bring life to a different narrative of an object’s past. She is interested in playing with memory and relating it to the present, creating an atmosphere between reality and fiction. Her family and social background have a powerful influence on her work. She grows up surrounded by objects and anecdotes inherited from her ancestors, those objects inspire endless surreal stories. Her work emerges from these experiences; they are evidence of her “auto-fiction”.
"Paloma Castello presents to us a nostalgia-filled body of work. The collection represents the soul of her proposal: inherited objects discovered or found that have become the tip of the iceberg of her past. These are elements she collects, recollects, and then classifies following a method that frames her anachronic attitude that proves as evidence of the youth of her art.
She also demonstrates that the experimentations on herself are common in an artist who’s just beginning her career. Without a doubt, this resource, valid and true becomes the road that determines the experimental character of the author.

- Animal signed limited edition contemporary fine art print, Bird - Macaw #4By Tim PlattLocated in Barcelona, BarcelonaAn original signed archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Baryta 315 gsm paper by English artist Tim Platt titled ‘ Macaw #4 ‘ Limited edition of 3 Signed by Tim Platt lower right and numbered lower left, delivered with certificates of authenticity, unframed Green-Winged Macaws are monogamous and pair for life. They mate once in a lifetime, remaining and travelling together even out of the breeding season. Their beaks are powerful, allowing them to easily crack hard shelled nuts like the Brazil nut. The beak of the Green-Winged macaw can generate a pressure of 2000 pounds per square inch. Animal photography is about being ready for the split-second moment when it happens. This takes a certain amount of production. The studio set-up, the lighting and the camera settings can all be planned but the magic moment is seldom planned. It just happens naturally and you need to be prepared. Whether you capture it will depend on patience, concentration and reflex. This is an Archival Pigment print on fiber based paper ( Hahnemühle Photo Rag® Baryta 315 gsm , Acid- and lignin-free, Museum quality for highest age resistance and a popular alternative to analogue baryta paper). The inks used are also known for their longevity. Signed + numbered by artist with certificate of authenticity. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. Archival pigment print available sizes ( Image size , the white margin is not counted) : 106 x 69 cm / 41.5 x 27” - Edition of 10 152.4 cm x 101.63 cm / 60 x 39,76 in - Edition of 3 Tim Platt specialises in creating minimal stylised studio portraits of birds and animals, which he describes as beauty shots. A frozen moment in time allows us to observe the world in suspension and will often reveal a graphic beauty that might otherwise flash by in the blink of an eye and remain unnoticed. Whether observing the magnified eye of a bullfrog, or an eagle captured at several thousandths of a second in mid-flight, he is fascinated by the level of detail that can be revealed in a large format print. It is the stillness of a photograph that gives us time to pause and marvel at the myriad levels of detail in Nature’s grand design and allows us to reflect on the wonderful diversity of life on Earth. - Macaw #3- Animal signed limited edition bird contemporary fine art print, BlueBy Tim PlattLocated in Barcelona, BarcelonaMacaw #3 - Signed limited edition archival pigment print - Edition of 10 The Green-Winged Macaw can be mistaken for a Scarlet Macaw as from the front it is almost entirely red. It is distinguished by a greenish band of feathers below the shoulders and wings. The green band transitions to dark blue on the wings, and there is light blue on the rump and on the tail feathers. This is seldom more true than when capturing birds in flight. The human eye can’t process the speed at which birds fly. The only way we can fully appreciate the beauty of feathered flight is to watch it in slow motion or freeze it at several thousandths of a second.
