About the Item

Sea Drive by Slim Aarons Film producer Kevin McClory takes his wife Bobo Sigrist and their family for a drive in an 'Amphicar' across the harbour at Nassau. The children are Bianca Juarez (Bobo's daughter from another relationship) and Siobhan, Branwell and Saoirse McClory, 1967. An absolute classic 'Slim' - this photograph epitomises the vintage style and glamour of the period's wealthy and famous, beautifully documented by Aarons. The film producer, his wife with a pink parasol and their family aboard their stylish red amphicar in Nassau harbour. In his words, he photographed 'attractive people in attractive places, doing attractive things'. In doing so, he captured a golden age of wealth, privilege, beauty and leisure that occurred alongside—but quite separate from—the cultural and political backdrop of the second half of the Twentieth Century. The Slim Aarons Estate has released this limited Estate edition as a Chromogenic C print. They have chosen these prints for their sharpness, clarity, tonality and quality, compared to archival inkjet prints. C prints give true continuous colour and tone. Aarons began his career as a combat photographer in World War II. Though he earned a Purple Heart for his service, he declared that combat had taught him that the only beach worth landing on was decorated with beautiful people enjoying themselves in the sun. Increasingly known for his influence, Aarons's casually glamorous jetset aesthetic can be seen today in fashion, art, and celebrity photography. Recent articles credit his work with inspiring the casually flawless style of top Instagram influencers, full of sunshine and escapism.
