ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Photographer Anne Menke occupies the unique realm where high fashion meets bohemian travel and a free spirit. Her editorial work exudes a sense of glamour often amidst a backdrop of far flung, exotic locales. Menke has photographed couture on the mountains of Peru and beauty contests on the plains of Mongolia. Her eye for the authentic-- somehow she's an insider wherever she goes-- has informed her campaigns for clients including Tommy Hilfiger, Nine West, Keds, Clarins, L’Oreal, Aveda, Banana Republic, Ralph Lauren, Macy’s, J. Crew, Nike, Wrangler and Hush Puppies . Menke was born in Germany and has lived and worked in London, Paris, and New York City. Currently, she splits her time between New York City and Sayulita, Mexico where she surfs and chartered a green school, The Costa Verde International school project. Mexico is also the perfect base for her frequent photography excursions. In 2001 Menke published a photography book "Our New York" in conjunction with Tommy Hilfiger. Her second book was published in 2012 titled “See the world beautiful” and is about her personal work from the last 15 years. Over last 2 years she had exhibitions in New York and Mexico. ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Liz Von Hoene is an award winning fashion photographer and director known for her immaculate concept driven images that strike the right balance between sophistication and whimsy. Whether she’s shooting for brands like Dove, Diet Pepsi, Credit Suisse, L’Oreal, Tampax and Ligne Roset or diverse collaborative partners like Badgley Mischka, DSW, Kate Spade, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and Target, Liz gives even the most familiar, everyday scene a fantastical twist. ABOUT THIS PIECE: "I wanted to photograph the pools to show the beauty of the architecture, while minimizing the modern elements. I love the geometry of the tiles, the lines on the bottom of the pool and the typography of the signs. Since my first Poolside exhibition in 2018, I have travelled to London, Paris, Manchester and Glasgow to add to my collection. Focusing on composition, carefully using blocks of colour to show interesting shape and proportion. The eye is drawn to the architecture, then the symmetry and reflections, and finally to the models, which feels more intimate.‘ Although my first collections were heavily inspired by my love of Wes Anderson's work, I’ve also been looking to other cinematic imagery from directors like Terrence Malick and Stanley Kubrick, while still keeping my signature style.’ We are so lucky to still have these beautiful old pools and maybe the photographs will remind people how lovely they are." - Soo Burnell ABOUT THIS ARTIST: Growing up surrounded by Edinburgh's historic beauty, it would be hard for any photographer not be inspired by its incredible buildings.
