About

"Do Not Remove" is a night shot of one of the piers supporting the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia on the PA side of the Delaware River. This is #1 in an edition of 10. It is printed on Epson Cold Press archival paper. Winner of the Patrons' Award for the juried Phillips' Mill Photographic Exhibition. Winner of 1st Place Honors at the juried New Hope Arts' Exposures - The Narrative of Photography - Exhibition. Winner of the 2nd Place Award for the juried Pennsylvania Center for Photography's Americana exhibition. The image size is 23x23" with a deep and wide surrounding matte. It has a 1" gloss black frame and is securely wired. Museum quality UV anti reflective glass. Signed, titled and editioned on the recto. The artist's signature spells out Xtopher, an abbreviation adopted for his much longer full name. Christopher has been an avid photographer since the age of nine and continues to capture traditional style images alongside his innovative creations involving the use of light. Below is an article that appeared in a newspaper in 2017 to support a series of solo and group exhibitions in the Philadelphia area: Christopher Kennedy is an award winning, self taught British photographer who emigrated to the USA in 1984 whilst working on the music side of the film industry. If ever there was an artist who tests the limits of the camera and what it can capture, it’s New Hope resident Christopher Kennedy. What began as a childhood impulse to simply photograph visual oddities grew into what has become “photo luminism,” a personally coined term describing the use of electric light as a sort of paintbrush on the camera’s sensor. Stretching and bending artificial light over long exposures and intentional camera movement creates his abstract images. The collection, two years in the making, consists of two print mediums. Most striking are the large aluminum canvases. Their reflective property “pushes” the light beyond the surface, giving it a 3D effect. Other works are printed on archival paper, which absorbs and pulls the colors inward, creating a deep, saturated look. His latest experiment is using and controlling natural light rather than artificial. Much of Bucks County PA has inspired his captures, but of late his muse has been the treescapes outside his rural New Hope cottage. Kennedy’s profession for many years dealt with music and sound editing in Hollywood, on projects including “A Chorus Line,” “The Little Shop of Horrors” and the Academy Award-winning score for “Finding Neverland.” Many of his light abstractions are strikingly reminiscent of sound and the waves they create.
