This photograph is from Stephen Mallon's series of photographs: "Next Stop Atlantic" which captures the retirement of a New York City Subway car to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. For a period of over 10 year the MTA engaged in an environmental initiative to create artificial reefs from decommissioned subway cars. In this photograph, Stephen Mallon captures a subway car in motion with a full spray of water as it hits the surface of the ocean.
