About the Item
Robin Rice Gallery from New York and Bridgehampton comes to Beacon, NY. This year, as part of the Beacon Open Studios 10th Anniversary event, Robin Rice Gallery is proud to present a group show of gallery artists curated especially for the new gallery space, Gallery II at 82 Mason Circle at the Lofts at Beacon.
The gallery at the Beacon Lofts is located on the 12-acre property of a 19th century textile mill, just along the banks of Fishkill Creek. Drawing on the industrial design of the live/work lofts themselves, the space makes use of reclaimed brick-wood and salvaged materials like concrete and metal combining bare and rough surfaces with a clean and flat finish. Exposed brick walls, high arched ceilings supported by large iron bars and hidden walkways evoke the feeling of being in a warehouse - a contemporary ambience but a retro spirit of the industrial revolution.
The magical combination of something unfinished and yet complete drew Robin Rice to the Beacon Lofts. Blessed with an extraordinary eye and extensive experience as a gallerist and successful photographer, Ms Rice has chosen works to compliment the industrial design of the Lofts. Images like an abstract of steel car machinery or still lives of gears and metallic parts are just some examples of the dynamic and powerful pieces reminiscent of the Industrial revolution. The end result is something vintage yet entirely modern.
