About the Item
" Mannequins, yellow cabs and a big, shiny display window (combined) are one of the most quintessential scene of New York City. Shot in SoHo, I wanted the abstracted reflections of the crosswalks to overlap with the backgrounds behind the display window to mimic movement of the cab as it crosses this intersection. The mannequins help the viewers to subconsciously "empathize" with the scenes since they do represent us humans. The close-up helps the viewers to feel and be a witness of the scene as if they are right there. I produce these prints mostly in Acrylic to duplicate the relection of the window...again, so you feel you are right there. Lastly, stare at it long enough, you probably won't even notice that only the yellow cab has colors, but because we New Yorkers see them so often that they have become background and therefore, most likely not even stand out against the black & white of the rest of the image. "
