Achille Perilli (28 January 1927 – 16 October 2021) was an Italian painter and sculptor.
Born in Rome on 28 January 1927, Achille Perilli attended classical secondary school and earned a degree in literature with a thesis on Giorgio de Chirico.
After World War II, he founded the group Forma 1 alongside Carla Accardi, Ugo Attardi, Pietro Consagra, Antonio Sanfilippo and Giulio Turcato.
He was a master in abstractionism, as seen in his exhibitions at the Venice Biennale in 1952, 1958, 1962, and 1968.
From 1948 to 1986, he participated in the Rome Quadriennale on five separate occasions.
From 1963 to 1964, he participated in the touring exhibition Peintures italiennes d'aujourd'hui in Beyrouth, Damas, Teheran, Ankara and Tunis.
In 1995, he became a member of the Accademia di San Luca and received the award from the President of the Republic of Italy Oscar Luigi Scalfaro in 1997.

Achille Perilli
Achille Perilli (1927–2021) was an Italian abstract painter and sculptor, renowned for his geometric compositions and significant contributions to post-war art movements. Born on January 28, 1927, in Rome, he pursued classical studies before enrolling at the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1945. In 1947, Perilli co-founded the Forma 1 Group, alongside artists such as Carla Accardi, Ugo Attardi, and Pietro Consagra. This collective was dedicated to promoting abstract art in Italy, aligning with Marxist principles and seeking to establish a theoretical foundation for abstraction, diverging from the figurative traditions of the time.
Throughout his career, Perilli's work was characterized by the exploration of geometric forms, often depicting irregular parallelepipeds that created complex, multidimensional spaces. His use of vibrant colors and dynamic structures became a hallmark of his style.
Perilli participated in numerous prestigious exhibitions, including multiple editions of the Venice Biennale (1952, 1958, 1962, and 1968) and the Rome Quadriennale (from 1948 to 1986). In 1995, he was inducted into the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, and in 1997, he received the President of the Republic Award, recognizing his significant contributions to Italian art.
Achille Perilli passed away on October 16, 2021, in Orvieto, Italy, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence contemporary abstract art.
