Bert Yarborough"Untitled II", Abstract Etching and Aquatint Lithograph, Signed and Numbered1991
1991
About the Item
"Untitled II" is a work that displays Bert Yarborough's experimentation with emotion and monotype in his abstract and expressive style. This print made with etching and aquatint has a striking depth within its monotype that call upon the subconscious imagery Yarborough witnessed every day in woods, bogs, and beaches in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The print is 27.5 x 22.5 inches and is signed and numbered from an edition of 30 by the artist. Numbered edition may not necessarily be number 8 as there are multiple prints in the possession of Collected Detroit. This is paired with another untitled lithograph in our photographs but each is purchased separately.
Bert Yarborough was born in 1946. He received his BA in Architecture from Clemson University and both his MA and MFA from University of Iowa. His body of work has utilized multiple mediums such as painting and various printmaking techniques. His technique has a preference for monotype as its diversity of expression allows for an immediacy within the work. He manipulates a "ghost" plate that allows for multiple pressings and employs collage, drawing, and watercolor so that he can explore the full body of the visual sense in his work.
He has been exhibited the East End Gallery in Provincetown, Massachusetts, the Boston Public Library, the Hood Museum of Art, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, the New Hampshire Institute of Art, the Plum Gallery in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and the Wichita Art Museum. A former two-year Resident Fellow at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts, he served as Visual Arts Program Coordinator for four years and is now serving as
Chairman of the Visual Program Committee.

"Travelers" is exemplary of this earlier aquatint process before Jacobs would go on to apply a diversity of colors to his work. The print is 39 x 29 inches and is signed and numbered from an edition of 30 by the artist.
