Composition 3: Rose Beige, Yellow, Lime is an original hand drawn color linocut/litho by the New York artist Bruce Porter, printed from hand carved linoleum blocks and hand drawn litho plates using traditional hand lithography and linoleum cut techniques on archival printmaking paper, 100% acid free. Composition 3: Rose Beige, Yellow, Lime is a lively horizontal modernist abstract composition comprised of deep rose beige, yellow, lime green, pine green, red brown and black create an animated energetic center formation superimposed over an urban block-like background. Impressive size - 24 x 36 in. unframed, excellent condition, strong impression, pencil signed by the Bruce Porter Porter takes his inspiration from jazz, mythology, and New York City using bold, determined and precise graffiti-like gestures. His energetic use of lines, shapes, and colors keeps the viewer fully engaged in a syncopated visual dance. Bruce Porter was born in Rochester, New York, in 1948 and graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a BA and MFA. He moved to New York in the early 1970s, where he still lives and works. Porter’s paintings have been included in exhibitions at The Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, The San Diego Museum of Art, as well as prestigious galleries such as Marian Goodman, Leo Castelli, and Tibor de Nagy. His works are included in the collections of Chase Manhattan Bank, Prudential Insurance, and the Art Bank Program of the U.S. State Department.

Edition size - 225, plus proofs Year - 1977 About the artist- Yona Lotan (1926-1998) Jewish engineer and painter was born in Lithuania. His family moved to Tel-Aviv, Palestine in 1936. He served as a high-ranking officer in the Israeli Army and fought in the War of Independence. In 1959 Yona Lotan began painting; he's considered a self-taught, outsider artist. Lotan always had the unquenchable desire to draw. His one-man shows in Israel and Geneva were so successful that he left the army, sold all his belongings and moved to Paris in 1960 in order to devote his life to painting. His art was vibrant and he became well known, not only in Europe, but also in the United States. In 1965 he won the coveted Prize of Foreign Painting given by the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Along with Maryan, Avigdor Arikha, Mordechai Ardon and Yaacov Agam. he was part of a group of Jewish emigre artists who worked in Paris. Paintings of Lotan are contained in the collections of: Musee National d'Art Modern, Paris, Pompidou Center, Paris Musee Municipal d'Art Modern, Paris. Museum Boymans, Rotterdam.
