Frank Stella

About the Item

This is another fine example from Frank Stella's highly desirable "Eccentric Polygons" series. These works are noted for their dynamic forms where flat shapes were being pushed or contained against other geometric constructions. This series of screenprints were based on the "Polygon" paintings from 1965-1967. Their curious titles come from small towns and locations in the White Mountains of New Hampshire where Stella and his father would go fishing during his youth. The "Eccentric Polygons" are Stella's last body of prints before he transitions to the exuberant, Baroque-busy, elaborate style that defined his aesthetic to this day. Not surprisingly, these canvases featured prominently in the recent retrospective at the Whitney Museum (in NYC) which also toured nationally in 2016. "Conway" is a highly desirable print and is one of the best known examples of the 'Eccentric Polygon' series, utilizing the brilliant colors of turquoise, magenta, and pink. We have been fortunate to have carried a few other examples from the "Eccentric Polygon" series. Click here to check out "Sunapee", "Moultonville", and "Moultonboro".
