Kanu Mitsuo (Tokio 1933) is a Japanese engraver and illustrator of the twentieth century, born in 1933 in Tokyo. He does not receive any artistic training, but, very young, he is interested in poetry, and particularly in French poetry: Lautréamont, Rimbaud and Sade. Working as an assistant to a botanist, he is fascinated by the study of micro-biomorphology and micro-organisms. His talent is detected by the surrealist poet Shūzō Takiguchi. He participates in numerous international collective exhibitions.
