- William Klein Bikini, Moscow exhibition poster (William Klein Paris 1981)By William KleinLocated in NEW YORK, NYWilliam Klein Bikini, Moscow Exhibition Poster: Paris, 1981: Highly decorative, rare vintage William Klein Bikini, Moscow exhibition poster defined by Klein's famed 1959 photo. Printed on fine, heavy-weight paper; excellent color tones and overall quality; looks fantastic framed. Offset lithograph on thick wove paper. 1981. 21 x 30 inches. Minor signs of handling; good to very good overall vintage condition. Work has been stored flat in archival setting for many years. Unsigned from an edition of unknown. William Klein is an American artist known for his one of a kind style of abstract photography depicting city scenes. Although similar in subject matter to other street photographers such as Diane Arbus and Saul Leiter, as well as fashion photographers Irving Penn and Richard Avedon, Klein’s images break from established modes. Born on April 19, 1928 in New York, Klein studied painting and worked briefly as Fernand Léger’s assistant in Paris, but never received formal training in photography. His fashion work has been featured prominently in Vogue magazine, and has also been the subject of several iconic...Category

$340 Sale Price31% Off - John Baldessari Necessary Facts poster 1999 (vintage John Baldessari)By John BaldessariLocated in NEW YORK, NYJohn Baldessari at Marian Goodman Gallery New York, 1999: Rare vintage original 1990s exhibition poster to commensurate the opening of 'John Baldessari, The Tetrad Series', 1999 at Marian Goodman Gallery.' This piece features a grid of four images and, in traditional Baldessari style, presents photography, text and a nod to painting. Vintage poster. Dimensions: 18 x 18 inches (9 x 9 inches folded closed). Good overall condition; fold-lines as originally issued; minor signs of handling & light wear to folds. Unsigned from an edition of unknown. Rare. John Baldessari: It is hard to characterize John Baldessari's varied practice—which includes photomontage, artist’s books, prints, paintings, film, performance, and installation—except through his approach of good-humored irreverence. Baldessari is commonly associated with Conceptual or Minimalist art, though he has called this characterization “a little bit boring.” His two-dimensional works often incorporate found images, composed in layers or presented as distinct pieces with an element of surprise, like a brightly colored geometric shape in the place of a face or a starkly printed sardonic caption. Baldessari has demonstrated a lasting interest in language and semantics, articulating these concerns through the use of puns or the juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated images and words, as in his 1978 work Blasted Allegories. His self-referencing photomontages and use of text have been sources of inspiration for countless artists, including Cindy Sherman, David Salle, and Barbara Kruger. Baldessari identifies his own artistic lineage, saying, "I would prefer to go to the source with Duchamp rather than credit Warhol as an influence." Related Categories: John Baldessari prints.
