About the Item

Artist: Andre Masson Medium: Lithographic Poster before lettering, 1967 Dimensions: 29.5 x 22.75 in, 74.93 x 57.79 cm Classic Poster Paper - Excellent Condition A+ This Original lithograph on poster paper was created by Andre Masson for the opening of the Mourlot studio in New York City in 1967. The studio was located on Bank Street in the heart of the West Village and was conceived after a successful exhibition organized by the Smithsonian Institute in 1963. Fernand Mourlot commissioned several famous International artists to create a series of original Lithographic posters to celebrate the event. This version is before lettering was printed. The difference between the signed version is the paper. This one is on classic poster paper and not on Arches paper. While this image might appear to be abstract, a closer look will reveal a surrealistic seascape with fishes and other marine lifeforms. Ed. 25
